Mission Dolores

A new MISSION DOLORES section has been added to my web site. The Mission San Francisco de Asis, (more commonly called the Mission Dolores), is located in San Francisco on Dolores Street, between 16th and 17th Streets. It is the oldest essentially unaltered structure in San Francisco. The chapel and the adjourning cemetery go all the way back to the late 1700’s. (The mission was officially established several months before the Declaration of Independence was signed. )The MISSION DOLORES section begins with several pages of historical footnotes followed by more than one hundred photographs that I’ve taken in the recent past. I invite you to take a virtual walk through the Mission and the cemetery. Most of the beautiful old gravestones go back to the Gold Rush days and earlier. Many of our streets are named after the people who are buried there. Click here to begin. http://www.ronhenggeler.com/Mission_Dolores/mission_dolores_index.htm
