RON HENGGELER |
On Sunday we drove up north of San Francisco to the wine country. The first stop was to the Jack London State Park. When we arrived, the day was warming to what would eventually become a blistering 90 degrees hot. At the park we visited the beautiful ruins of his Wolf House, and along the same trail, not far from the ruins, the serene grave site of the famous author. (Marked by a single boulder). In mid-afternoon we visited friends who own a exquisite villa-like home on top a mountain with a clear view of Sonoma Mountain not far away. The home is surrounded by fourteen acres of their pinot and chardonnay grape vineyards. On the return trip to San Francisco, we visited the town of Sonoma with it’s buildings and town square that date back to the Spanish-Mexican pre-Gold Rush days.
