The photo was taken midway up the mountain on the hairpin switchbacks to the
top of Mt. Tamalpais. In the foreground, the valley where Muir Woods is
located is the floor, beyond that, is the layered Marin Headlands, and in the
far distance, on the left, are Sausalito and San Francisco Bay, near the center
of the image, San Francisco, and on the right, the Golden Gate and Ocean
Beach.
