Mission San Francisco de Asis, (Mission Dolores), is located on Dolores Street, between 16th and 17th Streets. It is the oldest essentially unaltered structure in San Francisco. It was built between 1782 and 1791 by Native Americans under the direction of Franciscan Father Francisco Palou. In the adjoining cemetery are buried many well known early residents.
