Summer in the cool gray City of Love

The tower in the front yard has finally gotten some much-needed attention. In the last three weeks many hours of maintenance have gone into the tower. The fragrant night jasmine has been cut all the way back, and the remaining older vines are now tied down to the metal frame of the tower. For the past several years, the jasmine has grown wild without any pruning intervention. Because of the jasmine’s thick growth, most of the tower’s bells and chimes had stopped ringing. But now, with the tower cleaned up, and with the air passing through the structure once more, the wild symphony of sounds has returned.

The Pride Parade this year was nearly four and a half hours long. Reports say that over a million people attended. Peter Gershaeuser, Sales Director of the Renoir Hotel, generously gave me a special pass to the judge’s stand at the United Nations Plaza. I had a ring-side seat and shot 1400 photos of the parade. I will soon be displaying nearly 300 of these images on my web site.
