There are nearly 200 jars with black headdresses. Those jars are over 40 years old.One of my side projects during these days of sheltering-in-place, is to give all of the old black headdresses a fresh coat of black paint.

The hair in this jar is from the buffalo that are in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park.I found the Gold Rush-era bottle (20ft. below ground) at a construction site near Pier 39.In the early 90's, the area then under construction, had been the site of 19th century Meigg's Wharf ). |
The white marble on this headdreess is from the original San Francisco City Hall that was destroyed in 1906. I found it in 1994 at the construction site, when the new Main Library was being built on the Civic Center Plaza (at Grove and Hyde). The triangular piece of iron was taken from the construction site in 2000 during the Ferry Building's historic seismic retrofit. |

I found this boot in a pile of mud along side the hull of the Candace, an 1818 three-masted bark, dug up at Spear and Folsom Streets January 2006. |
