The Far East CafeFounded in 1920, the Far East Café is a legacy business. This historic restaurant boasts palace chandeliers, painted wall murals, carved screens and an emperor’s throne, all imported from China over one hundred years ago. It is renowned for its Cantonese cuisine. Members and guests enjoyed an eight course banquet meal with complimentary wine and tea. |

Victorian Alliance of San FranciscoCreated in reaction to the wide-scale, government imposed demolition of whole neighborhoods originally built before 1910, The VASF remains The City's oldest all-volunteer, not-for-profit organization committed to the restoration and preservation of historically significant structures. Our passion lies in the world-renowned residential buildings for which our great city is famous: the Victorians. |

The Victorian Alliance Grant ProgramOur support for architectural preservation and restoration includes funding assistance for worthy projects, now totaling nearly $500,000. The resources we provide are distributed through our Grants Program. While often modest, our grants have funded all or part of the repair, restoration, or installation of many easily recognized landmarks throughout San Francisco. |
||
AWARDS AND RECOGNITIONThroughout its history, the Alliance has received commendations for its achievements. In 2009, the Alliance was particularly honored to be one of the recipients of the California Governor's Historic Preservation Awards for the 2008 House Tour benefitting the restoration of the Palace of Fine Arts. The tour raised $43,500 for the project to preserve this iconic survivor of the 1915 Panama Pacific International Exposition. |
