Low sun-setting light illuminates the towering coastal cliffs on Drakes Beach at the Point Reyes National Seashore.
In 1579, Francis Drake on the Golden Hind, sailed into the area and careened his ship nearby in Drakes Estero. He named this land Nova Albion.
These cliffs reminded him of the white cliffs of Dover.
