Celebrating the 40 Years Anniversary at the Big 4 Restaurant on Nob Hill in San Francisco, the first week in October

During the first week of October, the Big 4 Restaurant where I work, is celebrating its 40 Year Anniversary. From Monday October 3rd, to Friday October 7th, we will be having a RSVP Party in the CPRR Private Dining Room. In the main dining room and bar, in addition to our regular menu, the Chef will be offering Daily Specials each night that harken back to the cuisine of 19th Century Gaslight San Francisco. On October 7th, the final night of our week-long celebration, a group of re-enactors will be portraying many of the bigger-than-life colorful characters from San Francisco's past. I have photographed them several times at the annual San Francisco Museum and Historical Society's History Expo at the Old Mint Building. Below are a few of my photos of the group. So, if you'd like to meet the likes of Charles Crocker, Adolf Sutro, the Emporor Norton, Lola Montez, Collis Huntington, Lillie Hitchcock Coit, a 49er gold miner, or a tart from the Barbary Coast, join us on Friday October 7th. If you can't make it on Friday the 7th, join in the fun on one of the other days that week.

The CPRR Banquet Room

The Huntington, (the 12-story building central to this image), was build in 1924 as an apartment building. It opened as the Huntington Apartments. In 1944, Eugene Fritz re-made it into the Huntington Hotel. In 2011, Grace International in Singapore purchased the hotel. After a major renovation, it is now the Scarlet Huntington Hotel. The Big 4 Restaurant is part of the Scarlet Huntington Hotel.

Years ago, I found on E Bay, these two pages from The Architectural Forum 1924.
