The remarkable tenacity of trees

I recently received an email from my mother in Kansas City.

She sent me a collection of photos of trees, but her email gave no indication of their source, or who had taken the photos.

My web site is normally devoted to posting only my own photos, but these images are exceptional in that they illustrate the remarkable tenacity of trees.

I've placed the photos on a black background, and with a few, I've included the caption that came with them. Other than that, I do not take credit for any of the images.

Like water which can clearly mirror the sky and the trees only so long as its surface is undisturbed, the mind can only reflect the true image of the Self when it is tranquil and wholly relaxed.

It is not so much for its beauty that the forest makes a claim upon men's hearts, as for that subtle something, that quality of air that emanation from old trees, that so wonderfully changes and renews a weary spirit.

A single act of kindness throws out roots in all directions, and the roots spring up and make new trees.

I thank you God for this most amazing day, for the leaping greenly spirits of trees, and for the blue dream of sky and for everything which is natural, which is infinite, which is yes.

I think the tree is an element of regeneration which in itself is a concept of time.
